My Place & Yours: Where do you blog?

It's Tuesday again and this week Danielle at Hello Owl's My Place & Yours is asking:

My Place & Yours: Where do you blog?

This is my spot on my desk in my bedroom where I like to blog. I have my laptop set up and  my blogger all set up getting ready to blog about the latest and the what's going on at my place. An iPod on hand for a lazy check on things but I would love to learn how to blog on that too but I'm rather slow at typing with on it. I'm posting at the moment about my latest giveaway and sorting out some photos for these handmade clutch purses I've just made.  I'm kind of writing two post at the same time ... multitasking and trying to take measurements of the clutch purses.

My handmade clutch purses from my latest blog post "Clutch Purses and a Giveaway " just a little giveaway to say thank you.

My Place & Yours: What I am Reading

I wish I had more time to grab a book and read. I have a few and this is my most recent. This book was given to me by my hubby for my birthday. I think he had the best intentions  when he chose this book but with that title I think it may have secretly been the book that he wanted to read. Anyway, as soon as I unwrapped my present and barely had the time to read the inscription it was whisked away from my hands by hubby. Don't get me wrong I have all of Sue Townsend's books but I didn't get it back for another 2 weeks later. I'm some where around the 2nd chapter.

As much as I would love to go to the book shop and buy a real book with paper pages I've been stocking my virtual book shelves with some ebooks. Much cheaper than a real book and takes up virtually no space I find they are easier to read on the go or while I'm find some precious free time.

I love the movie and had to get this book.

Yes another movie book but I did get around to reading her blog. Almost finished with this book.

As you see the theme for this week's My Place & Yours over at Danielle's Hello Owl is
What are you reading?

what's in your handbag...

This week's My Place And Yours over at Hello Owl is

what's in your handbag...

This what is hiding in my bag or should I say this is what I'm hiding in my bag these days. I'm using my red bag  that I made the other day and it's one of those big bags that can fit almost the kitchen sink. I've been using it lately to double up as my nappy bag and so it's crammed with nappies, a big packet of baby wipes for all those messy occasions, a camera for those unforgettable moments with the kids and also for my 31 Day challenge, car keys, hair clip, lip gloss for that quick splash of colour, my pocket purse and my phone. .... the things missing from my bag .... change of clothes for Jacob because he's a mess these days and has to change at least 3-4 times a day, toys, snacks and a sippy cup. I usually have so much in my bag that I'm forever looking for my keys even though I made 3 pockets inside I'm really going to have to add a cord or something next time so I can clip it onto all my keys.

Memories

This week's My Place and Yours theme is Memories.
Do you have anything that takes you back to your childhood or just something that reminds you of something long ago.

When I was about 5 or 6 years old my mum had these precious stones made up into necklaces. I remember her picking the beads at the jewelery shop and she had a few made up into necklaces and the leftover beads were made up into a bracelet for me. I'm not sure where I put that bracelet but my mum gave me this red beaded necklace when I in my teens.
The other necklace is another of mum's necklaces that she had when I was young and I loved the blue colour in the heart. She bought this in Taiwan and I always loved playing dress up with mum's jewelery when I was a little girl.

Green

We are going Green over at My Place and Yours @ Hello Owl

This is Mr Froggy and Jacob just loves him. He's a soft toy that usually has a place in the corner of Jacob's cot. He's been with Jacob since the day he was born and there was a time when Mr Froggy was bigger than J.

Your favourite pair of shoes

It's Monday again and over at Hello Owl and Danielle has been busy over the weekend cleaning and de-cluttering her house to find a few gems.... her favourite shoes!

Here's this week's theme for My Place & Yours:

Your favourite pair of shoes.

These simple black flats are my fav at the moment. They go well with a pair of jeans and with any really. They're not exactly flats as they have a bit of heel and I need some height when I'm standing next to hubby who is much taller (6ft2"!!!! ). BTW that's Jacob's fav "shoes" ... his little bare feet!

(I took this pic with the camera upside down!)

What's on your fridge?

This week's theme for My Place & Yours @ Hello Owl is

What's on your fridge?
Oh my fridge could really do with a make-over and a bit of cleaning but here it is with it's many bits and pieces. Lots of school newsletters from way back, a collection of fridge magnets, drawings from the kids, calendar, and my all important kitchen timer... I would have burnt the kitchen down if it wasn't for this gadget!

Kitchen Love

This week's theme for My Place & Yours @ Hello Owl is

Kitchen Love

I think I spend alot of time in the kitchen, cooking, baking, planning, experimenting and of course washing the dirty dishes. But even though it's alot of time in that little hotspot of the house, it's where alot of love goes into making the meals that fill the tummies of those I love the most.

My cookbook stand that I picked up for 50 cents at a school flea market. I love it and can't do without it when I'm making something special.

My growing collection of cookbooks. It's not in the kitchen due to lack of space but I wish it was.

The apple cutter that cuts and cores an apple all at the same time. I found this at Ikea and it's so handy when making apple pies or when the kids want to eat apples.

Three Things You Do Everyday

This week’s theme over at Hello Owl’s My Place and Yours is:

Three Things You Do Everyday.

What three things do I do everyday?

1. Hugs & Kisses for my Hubby and three beautiful kids.

Waking up in the morning and giving the whole family a big hug and kiss to start the day.

2. Morning Coffee.

Drinking a big mug of coffee  to get the whole day rolling. Coffee or tea will do, just as long as I can get through one everyday.

3. Check my email & blogs.

Having a quick read on my iPod while still in bed.

Pre loved-inherited or thrift-ed

For this week's My Place & Yours @ Hello Owl  ...

This weeks Theme Queen is Zoe from over at A Boys Mummy and she has chosen Pre loved-inherited or thrift-ed as this weeks theme.

This dining table and chairs were given to me by my aunt when I moved over to Malaysia. It was her old dining set and it's made out of rotan (similar to bamboo), very appropriate for our tropical look, comes with 6 chairs and I just love it.

I bought these plates at an auction and it was a real bargain. Shangri-La Resort was refurnishing and selling off old and never used crockery to make way for new stuff. I managed to get a set of 20 dinner plates and pasta bowls all for about RM60+ which would be about AU$20 and the best thing is that it's Villeroy & Boch.  I only wish I got there earlier to buy more.

This was another bargain at the same auction. Schott Zwiesel lead crystal wine goblets from Germany! I bought 2 crates (36 goblets) of these and I found out that they were new. I really don't know what the auctioneer was thinking when they were valuating the items for auction but I can't wait for the next auction.

This chair was originally designed by my sister-in-law and it was passed down to my brother-in-law and eventually passed to my husband. It's solid wood and it took 3 people to carry up to our apartment. It's an unusal piece but it seems to suit this corner quite well. I have to add some plush cushions and then it will look better.

I'm not too sure if the cat counts but he was from a litter of kittens that my aunt rescued. He was pre-loved by my aunt but she just had too many cats to take care of. His name is Sakura and he's a strange cat who loves taking showers, doesn't miaow too much and walks on a leash.

Proud...

This weeks theme over at Hello Owl’s My Place and Yours  is proud adj. , prouder , proudest . Feeling pleasurable satisfaction over an act, possession, quality, or relationship by which one measures one's.

It's just a small sewing corner but it's made my sewing projects so much better. I've neglected for a year and a bit since my old sewing machine died but it's come back to life with the new Janome and I'm just so proud to have it back.

I can now sit here and sew to my heart's content but only when the baby sleeps.

Oh the mirror actually doesn't really service any purpose except to reflect the TV!!!

Your favourite spot in the house.

This week’s theme over at Hello Owl’s My Place and Yours is:

Your favourite spot in the house.

That would have to be the cabinet in my living room. It's an assortment of favourite photos, trinkets, little handicrafts the kids made .... just really odds and ends that I've collected over the years. Each piece telling a story of our lives, a special moment, a milestone....

What's on your keyring?

This week’s theme over at Hello Owl’s My Place and Yours is:

What’s on your keyring?

Let's start with the house keys...
I've had this keyring for a long time... It's actually the keyring my hubby gave me when we started going out together... it was the keyring he used for his bachelor pad!! Anyway he bought the keyring when he was studying at uni in Minnesota, US.... some 20+ years ago (Gosh it's so old!). Let me see there's the front door grill key, a back door padlock key, another padlock key (I don't why it's still here that padlock is long gone.) and then the front door key.... I like this keyring despite the age and it's worn out leather but I've had it for as long as I've been with my hubby so I guess it's kind of like my "first" ring that he gave me.

The other important keyring in my life...... the car keys!
This is my key to freedom, carpooling, trips to the beach and shopping! As you can guess from these keyring I'm a Toyota woman. A typical mummy people mover, my little wheels the Toyota Avanza. Fits everyone and lot's of space for just about anything. The little tassel  is something my hubby was given when he went over to Japan. It's all hand sewn using pretty Japanese fabric and decorated with little glass beads... a bit old now but I love anything hand sewn.

Where do you blog?

I came across Helloowl: My Place and Yours.

And this weeks theme is chosen by Talia and is Where do you blog?

..... Mmmmm... On a tiny second hand desk that was originally from my daughter's room. A desk covered with little pencil nicks and remnants of old stickers. A clutter of books, paper on the side and an old mug full of pens and pencils. A few notes to spend on my next shopping trip. And my link to the outside world, my Dell.

I'll read, think and blog from this tiny desk at all hours of the day but it's my little place in my bedroom that connects me to yours.

Although it's a small place in the corner of my bedroom I only have to look outside to see my side of the world.

... that's my daughter, Ashley playing on her game, Jacob's cot and my green mango tree from Under the Green Mango Sky.
